The Children and Young People IPBS pathway within the Specialist Children and Young People's business unit comprises of services for young people with a learning disability who may present with behaviours of concern and/or mental health presentations. The service is currently expanding to develop a pathway for Autistic children who do not have a learning disability. The IPBS team sits within the Specialist Children and Young People's Business Unit. It is a multi-disciplinary team which aims to support young people in their communities, enhancing the community offer at times of increased need as indicated by the Dynamic Support Registers in each locality. It covers the whole CNTW footprint, and as such is a very busy, dynamic team, and in the process of developing a consultation model and also earlier interventions. The development plan sits with the Provider Collaborative initiative, established with the aim of working
across the Integrated Care Board footprint of the North East, which means close links are also set up with other Mental Health and Learning Disability Trusts within the region., This is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Practitioner to join the Specialist team, providing specialist assessment, consultation and treatment in the area of Positive Behavioural Support. The post will also contribute to the development of a consultation model and contribute to the development of interventions in this evolving treatment pathway.
This represents a unique opportunity to develop within this Specialist CYPS role within a rapidly changing and dynamic service. Appropriate line management supervision and specialist PBS supervision will be provided within the service, as well as opportunities for appropriate professional development within the role.
Current projects include service evaluation and development of the PBS model for autistic children, mindfulness interventions for parents, staff well-being and Positive Family Intervention (PBS + CBT) development. Contributions to research and evaluation in these areas would also be encouraged and supported.
