Your new team
You'll be joining our growing in-house Health & Wellbeing team of specialist nurses, doctors and technicians providing full occupational health remit for LNER's 3500 employees across the group from London to Aberdeen.
Are you on board?
We're looking for a clinically skilled and passionate Occupational Health Physician where you will play a pivotal part in delivering a comprehensive occupational health service, providing expert advice and support to our employees, management, and stakeholders. Joining our in-house team provides a rare opportunity to inform health and wellbeing strategy and delivery in a safety critical environment.
As an experienced clinical professional, you will provide expert, consultant-level advice to employees and the business, helping to shape and develop our occupational health services. You will use your clinical and collaborative skills to support the team and drive continuous improvement.
Within this role you'll also be involved in:
* Provide specialist advice in line with statutory obligations under health and safety legislation.
* Deliver clinical services, including pre-placement and intra-employment assessments, and fitness-for-work advice and contribute to occupational health surveillance programs.
* Lead or contribute to the development and delivery of evidence-based occupational health strategies.
* Support clinical teaching and mentoring within the Health & Wellbeing team.
* Contribute to clinical governance, service development, and continuous improvement through audits and reviews.
* Actively participate in research projects as required and contribute to the development of policies, guidance, and communications.
What you'll need:
Key Competencies
* Excellent clinical skills with the ability to evaluate clinical issues from a commercial and business perspective.
* Strong communication skills, both formal and informal (written and verbal), to establish credibility with stakeholders.
* Ability to work flexibly with multiple stakeholders and adjust to changing business and clinical priorities.
* Strong influencing and relationship management skills, with a positive and collaborative approach.
* Demonstrates innovative thinking and contributes to strategic planning.
* High level of confidentiality and integrity.
* Proficiency with IT, including Microsoft Office and online record systems.
Essential:
* Medical Degree.
* Specialist registration with the GMC and current licence to practice.
* MFOM or FFOM qualification.
* Up-to-date participation in a recognised CPD programme.
* Experience in clinical practice, including occupational health assessments.
Desirable:
* ORR Registered Doctor.
* Experience within the railway or other safety critical environment.
* Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
What to expect:
Location: Flexible – This role will be based between Edinburgh and Newcastle so being able to commute to one or more of these sites would be essential. Travel to our York Head Office and site visits would also be required as part of your role.

Days a week: 4 days a week is ideal but there is flexibility on FTE.
