Role Summary
We seek a Financial Controller to establish and lead Sention’s finance function. You’ll ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic planning as we scale. The role involves overseeing financial operations, reporting, and internal controls while driving efficiency, managing budgets, and structuring finances for growth. Ideal for a hands-on finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced startup, balancing strategic and operational finance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Compliance:
o Prepare monthly financial reports (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet).
o Conduct financial analysis and advise leadership.
o Manage month-end close and statutory compliance.
o Liaise with accountants and auditors.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting:
o Lead annual budgets and financial forecasts.
o Present financial performance updates to the board.
o Develop models to support decision-making.
3. Process & Systems Optimisation:
o Improve financial processes and controls.
o Automate workflows and enhance reporting (e.g., Power BI).
o Support grant applications and tax incentives.
4. Operational Finance:
o Oversee payroll, VAT returns, and tax compliance.
o Handle bookkeeping and banking operations.
o Support fundraising, due diligence, and stakeholder communications.
Required Skills & Experience
1. Technical Expertise:
o ACCA or ACA qualification (must-have).
o Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
o 4-8 years in financial management.
o Experience as a Senior Accountant or Financial Controller.
o Strong financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
o Proficiency in Xero or equivalent software.
o Knowledge of UK tax and reporting regulations.
