Colliery Court Medical Group are recruiting a Medical Receptionist to join our very busy reception team to provide a friendly, efficient, effective and helpful service to the practice population.

We are looking for:
1x post of 30 hours per week over 4 days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) shift patterns 8.30am - 5pm, 9am - 5.30pm, 9.30am - 6pm.
OR
2 x part-time 15 hour posts to make up to the 30 hours per week.
You will also be required to participate in the extended hours rota from 18:00 until 20:00 on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening, approximately once per month.

You will be the first contact our patients, visitors, third party organisations will have with our practice, so you must be friendly, approachable, empathetic, efficient and an excellent communicator.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
* Provide a friendly and efficient front desk reception service
* Answer and make telephone calls, sending texts and emails
* Book appointments in line with the practice protocol
* Signpost patients to attached services
* Deal with patient queries in person, on the telephone, via email and online
* Process requests for repeat medication
* Scan and import hospital letters, results and other correspondence
* Provide general assistance to the practice team
* Project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors either in person or on the telephone
* EMIS web and GP Practice experience beneficial but not essential

Job responsibilities
To work as part of the medical reception team to provide an efficient, effective, and helpful service to the Practice population. Through use of initiative, a flexible approach and working consistently to high standards, you will provide valuable and valued help and support to members of the Primary Health Care Team.
The post holder will show respect and courtesy to patients and colleagues, and maintain confidentiality of patient and other practice information at all times.
The post holder will be expected to take up necessary training as required, and to maintain and adhere to Practice Health and Safety policies. Occasional overtime may be required.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of a range of software programmes including Microsoft Office software and email.
* Knowledge of a range of office procedures.
* Ability to handle queries efficiently with diplomacy and tact.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships and to exchange information with patients and staff.
* Experience of working with minimum supervision, within standard operating procedures.
* Ability to work under pressure in a busy high pressure environment.
* An understanding of confidentiality issues.
* Treats others with dignity, respect and compassion.
* Professional attitude.
* Experience in using computer programmes such as EMIS Web, ICE, NHS mail.
* Knowledge of Information Governance and Caldicott principles.
* Previous training in or knowledge of safeguarding children and adults.
* A knowledge of the basic principles of infection control.
Qualifications
* Standard grade mathematics or equivalent
* Standard grade English or equivalent
* Good command of written English

£12.21 an hour NMW pending confirmation of pay award
