The Plough is a beautiful pub located in the foothills of The Surrey Hills in between Leatherhead and Guildford. Effingham is a picturesque village, with a real mixture of traditional older houses and a handful of new estates that are being developed surrounding the village, along with a parade of independent shops.
The pub is going to be benefiting from significant investment in Jan 2025, to help accentuate the traditional pub charm of the building and to elevate the large outdoor space. We pride ourselves on high standards which in turn creates a good environment for tips.
We are seeking dedicated and skilled Commis Chefs to join our new, growing kitchen team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, contributing to the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes. This position requires a passion for culinary arts, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties:
1. Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
2. Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
3. Assist in the management of kitchen operations, including inventory control and stock rotation.
4. Collaborate with team members to maintain an organised and efficient kitchen environment.
5. Supervise junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
6. Maintain cleanliness of workstations and kitchen equipment throughout the shift.
7. Assist with menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes.
8. Help train new staff members on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
Experience:
1. Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is essential.
2. Strong culinary skills with a focus on food preparation and production.
3. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is required.
4. Experience in supervising or managing a team is advantageous.
5. Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate others.
6. A passion for cooking and a desire to continuously improve culinary skills.
7. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
