We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate or early career Engineer to join our busy Property Services Team at an exciting time. This role provides an excellent opportunity to expand your skills and provide engineering support in a wide variety of structural/civil engineering functions & projects for North Devon Council. The right candidate will assist in providing effective management of assets which include coastal/fluvial natural and built structures, retaining walls & car parks.
In order to be considered suitable for the post, you will need to:
1. Hold a Degree or Similar Qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering
2. Hold or be working towards a minimum professional qualification of Incorporated Engineer (I.Eng) in Structural or Civil Engineering
3. Good verbal, written communication and drafting skills
4. Good level of investigatory, analytical problem solving and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
6. Ability to deliver a large range of work from project management of small-medium sized capital projects down to day-to-day duties
7. Ideally some knowledge of Shoreline Management Plans, Coast Protection Act 1949, Land Drainage Act 1991, Flood & Water Management Act 2010.
8. Knowledge of Traffic Management Act
9. A good working knowledge of the Construction Design & Management Regulations 2015
10. Have a good working knowledge of using software programmes such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
11. Demonstrate competence in undertaking surveys, inspections and preparation of condition reports
12. Have the ability to analyse and diagnose defects to structures and instigate suitable remedial actions
13. Have knowledge of all relevant statutory and health & safety legislation
