Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Welder / Hard Facer / Workshop Technician to join our team. This individual will be responsible for performing welding and hard facing operations, with the primary purpose of the servicing, maintaining and repairing roller cone drill bits and hole openers. You will be a key member of a small flexible team where duties and responsibilities will be mixed and varied to meet our customer requirements. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of welding techniques and safety protocols while working under minimum supervision ensuring high-quality workmanship in all tasks. You will be required to carry out your duties while working in accordance with company HSEQ policies and procedures to ensure a safe and environmentally sound working environment. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager. Competency and experience in roller cone bits and hole openers would be advantageous. Key Responsibilities: Perform welding tasks using MIG, and stick welding methods plus electric and gas oxy acetylene cutting Service and repair of Roller Cone Bits. Including removing, inspecting, re-installing compensators and grease. Re-tipping of Roller Cone Mill Tooth Bits Manufacture and repair of Roller Cone Bit Breakers Service and repair of Hole Openers and Hole Opener Cutters. Maintain and repair workshop machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Follow safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Skills and Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding and hard facing, preferably in a workshop or industrial setting. Proficient in various welding techniques (MIG and stick) and familiar with hard facing procedures and oxy acetylene cutting. Knowledge of roller cone drill bits, bit breakers and hole openers preferred. Ability to operate various hand tools and overhead crane Forklift certificate preferred Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise. Good communication and teamwork abilities, with a focus on collaboration. UK Driving License required Work Environment: This position is based in our workshop facility in Blackburn, with a focus on safety and teamwork.
