What you'll do: Eaton's Wimborne site, part of Eaton's Mission System Division, is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to work in the Actuation Team. As a Senior Project Engineer you will report into the IPT Engineering Manager and be responsible for technically leading/coordinating engineering projects such as proposals, new product introduction, modifications/upgrades to in service product and through life support. You will bridge the gap between the customer and the wider technical disciplines in Eaton. This role would suit an engineer with a preference a broad spectrum of engineering topics or looking to progress into engineering leadership/develop into management. - Technically lead small/medium sized projects - Provide technical input to a Lead Engineer/Engineering Manager on large projects or lead sections of a large project. - Be responsible for planning the engineering tasks, management of internal functions and generation of engineering management plans. - Engage with customers to ensure a solution meets their expectations and communicate the customer expectations internally. - Plan and present engineering design gate reviews, engage with internal functions (e.g. airworthiness, safety) to ensure the project delivery milestones are fully met - Manage technical risks and opportunities. - Execute all stages of system lifecycle (requirements management, validation, systems design, development, integration, verification and qualification per Eaton process and customer requirements) - Manage engineering change to ensure system integrity all through the lifecycle and ensuring traceability of all key design decisions. - Provide support and guidance in all areas of the product lifecycle. - Liaising with the engineering leadership and programme management teams to ensure the project is adequately resourced and support to identify any potential capability shortfalls. Qualifications: - You will hold and degree in a relevant subject. Alternative education such as HNC or apprenticeship with sufficient experience will be considered - You should have 5 years' experience in an engineering role Skills: - You'll need good communication skills, both verbal and written to interface with customers and internal stakeholders. - You must be self-motived and proactive, using both your own technical skills and teamwork to find resolutions to issues. - You should have experience of engineering lifecycle and design reviews. - You should have a good foundation in technical report writing. - You should be comfortable presenting technical content at all levels across the business. - It would be advantageous if you had previously held engineering sign off for documents, but it's not required. - Some experience working with project management in the generation of schedules would be of benefit.
