A Specialist Provision in Reading for students with mental health difficulties is looking for an Emotional/Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time. This will involve supporting the students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as attachment difficulties and trauma.
As an Emotional/Behavioural Teaching Assistant you will:
1. Play a key role in equipping the students with the emotional and social skills needed to succeed when they leave school.
2. Act as a role model to all students, setting high expectations and committing to bringing out the best in them.
3. Raise attainment of the pupils by boosting their self-esteem and emotional wellbeing.
4. Help improve barriers to learning.
5. Motivate students to stay on task & complete their work.
6. Help pupils develop their social skills, emotional regulation and foster positive relationships with peers.
The ideal Emotional/Behavioural Teaching Assistant will be passionate about helping young people struggling with their mental health. You will need to be resilient, open-minded, and knowledgeable about mental health and development. Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or Counselling would be perfect for this position. This will provide you with the experience needed to train as a Psychologist or Therapist in the near-future and give you a first-hand insight into the challenges young people face on a daily basis.
