Support Worker: Ex-Veterans
LOCATION: Gosport
SALARY: £12.63 Basic / £14.22 PAYE inclusive / £15.12 Umbrella
DURATION: Temp to possibility of permanent
HOURS: 37.5 hrs (Mon – Fri | 9am – 5pm | occasional weekend work)
Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of veterans? Join a national charity as an Ex-Veterans Support Worker on a temp to potential perm basis and be part of a team dedicated to empowering veterans to lead fulfilling and independent lives.
Day-to-day duties:
* Provide direct support for veterans, ensuring their well-being and independence.
* Empower veterans to maximise their independence.
* Collate information to enable accurate reporting on performance against internal/external targets and outcomes.
* Ensure veterans are fully involved at all levels in the running of the project.
* Take an active role in delivering the routine daily duties of the project.
* Carry out person-centred key-working, including need/risk assessment and goal-oriented support planning.
* Manage the referral and eviction processes.
* Stay informed about the requirements of relevant initiatives including those relevant to veterans.
* Ensure that veterans are in receipt of appropriate benefits and access all statutory and charitable support.
* Keep rent payments up to date and accurately report to veterans, your manager, and the Finance department, following the rent arrears procedure.
* Adhere to all financial procedures.
* Encourage local fundraising.
* Assist in the monitoring and assessment of service delivery.
* Support the Manager in ensuring that the project meets all requirements in line with current legislation.
* Help review and update Policies and Procedures to ensure continuous development and improvement.
* Work closely with your Line Manager to refer residents to outside agencies as appropriate to their needs, collaborating with those agencies in line with best practice.
Essentials:
* DBS within the last 12 months (must have original copy).
* Experience in Supported Housing, Homelessness, Mental Health, and Substance Misuse.
* Demonstrated ability to carry out person-centred key-working, need/risk assessment, and support planning.
* Commitment to staying informed about relevant initiatives, especially those pertinent to veterans.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with veterans and external agencies.
* Understanding of financial procedures and experience in ensuring veterans' access to appropriate benefits and support.
