Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team in the construction and fit-out sector. The Estimator will be responsible for accurately preparing cost estimates, analysing project requirements, and providing competitive pricing strategies for construction and fit-out projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring profitability and supporting successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Estimating and Tender Preparation:
Review project specifications, drawings, and client requirements to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates.
Develop tender documentation, including detailed cost breakdowns and pricing submissions.
Identify potential risks, constraints, and opportunities within the project scope.
2. Cost Analysis and Budgeting:
Source and negotiate prices with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure competitive rates.
Prepare cost plans and budgets for projects during the pre-construction phase.
Monitor market trends, material prices, and labour costs to maintain up-to-date cost data.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements.
Work closely with the procurement team to align cost estimates with supplier agreements.
Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings to gather relevant information.
4. Risk Management:
Identify and document project risks and provide mitigation strategies within estimates.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, health, and safety standards in all estimates.
5. Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain a comprehensive database of cost estimates, quotations, and project budgets.
Provide regular reports on estimating activities and project cost performance.
Support the handover of projects to the delivery team, ensuring all cost data is shared and understood.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
1. Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction or fit-out industry.
2. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and market trends.
3. Proficiency in using estimating software and tools (e.g., Causeway, Bluebeam, Excel).
4. Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
5. Strong organizational and time management abilities to meet tight deadlines.
6. Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desirable:
1. Relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. Membership with a professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB).
3. Familiarity with BIM and digital estimation tools.

1. Working hours Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm (hours to be kept flexible around needs of the business).
2. 28 days holiday (including bank holidays). In addition, after one years service you are entitled to one extra day per year of service up to a maximum of five extra days.
