Learning Support Assistant - Special Needs
Do you have experience working with challenging behaviour? Are you interested in supporting young people's Mental Health?
A PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) in the north Bristol area is currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join them ASAP. The PRU caters for children and young adults who have been excluded from mainstream education or are in a transition period before finding a place in a specialist setting.
Key Information:
1. Start ASAP
2. £83-£95 per day, depending on experience
3. Full-time, Monday - Friday 8.30am to 4pm
4. Term time only
5. Bristol - BS10
About the Role:
1. Providing learning support to KS2 to KS4 students who have trauma, SEN, behavioural disorders, as well as other mental health issues.
2. 1:1 assistance for pupils with Special Needs and Challenging Behaviour and learning disabilities such as Autism.
3. Working alongside fully trained therapists, psychologists, and other professionals within the education/mental health field.
4. An excellent opportunity to expand your classroom experience prior to undertaking teacher training and becoming a fully qualified classroom teacher.
The Right Candidate:
1. Experience working with children is required.
2. A graduate (2:2 or above - Psychology and Criminology desirable) or experienced teaching assistant/learning support assistant who is passionate about Special Educational Needs and Behavioural Needs.
3. Candidates with previous experience in youth work, support work, mental health work, and SEN in sport would also be suitable.
