Job Title: Junior M&E Quantity Surveyor
Location: Dartford, Kent
A leading M&E Contractor is currently looking for a Junior M&E QS to join their expanding team in Dartford, Kent.
The company delivers refurbishment and fit-out projects across the London and Home Counties area, providing mechanical and electrical services to a wide range of clients and businesses, such as commercial offices, hospitals, schools, laboratories, retail, and high-end residential buildings. These projects are typically valued from £200k to £2M.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Junior M&E QS to develop their career in quantity surveying within a supportive environment. The successful candidate will assist the commercial and operations teams by managing all M&E financial and contractual aspects from initial calculations to the final account.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in preparing project costs and contracts.
2. Assist in preparing tender documents, budgets, bills of quantities, and other documentation.
3. Collaborate with quantity surveyors and project managers, assisting with risk management and cost control throughout the lifecycle of the project to ensure successful project delivery.
4. Review client payment notices.
5. Help produce subcontract orders for the supply chain.
6. Support communication between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure a smooth flow of information.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Experience in the M&E industry either from an on-the-tools background, management, or as a recent QS graduate.
2. Overall knowledge of a wide variety of mechanical and electrical systems.
3. Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
4. The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines.
5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
6. Strong IT skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
The role is open to someone with experience in the M&E industry looking to transition from the tools to the commercial side of projects or a newly qualified quantity surveyor graduate who is keen to gain valuable knowledge and guidance through various stages of the project lifecycle, from pre-construction to project closeout from an experienced commercial team.
