The Associates have an exciting opportunity for a Azure Platform Administrator to join our Technical Services team within the Chief Information Office. The Azure Platform Administrator will provide both project management, engineering and guidance on technical aspects of developments and modifications to IT systems. You will ensure that existing and planned information systems and infrastructure are compatible with relevant company technical strategies, policies and standards.
Responsibilities:
Works to agreed objectives. Has full responsibility for quality of work performed as a technical specialist.
•Develops and maintains the direction of the technical infrastructure reflecting developments in technology and products, current best practice and existing and new security standards, responding to new business demands and opportunities and in line with the company’s IT strategy and the overall technical architecture.
•Maintaining and developing a hybrid estate of SQL Servers in Production and Non-Production environments, on premise and in the Cloud leveraging multiple manage service provider agreements to deliver the service.
•Provide support to development with experience in both Waterfall and Agile development projects providing expertise around database configuration management, infrastructure as code and database standards and best practices, release management, automation with a high focus on database and data security supporting internal and external audits.
•Build and configure automated build pipelines with re-useable scripts
•Improve the architecture of live applications to facilitate data pipelines
•Working on automation of deployment, monitoring, and testing of the Data Platform with other CIO teams
•Working collaboratively with team in order deliver solutions to improve the robustness and scalability
•Translate business and IT requirements into practical terms that can be implemented by existing or new technology
•Prepare and maintain realistic project, quality, and risk plans and monitors performance against each plan, providing reports to customer/user, management and senior management as required.
•Develop and maintain the direction of the technical infrastructure reflecting developments in technology and products, current best practice, responding to new business demands and opportunities and in line with the company’s IT strategy and the overall technical architecture.
•Implement solutions that take advantage of the service’s infrastructure and ensure service-take on to infrastructure managed services
•Provide expert advice, support and guidance to the systems development groups regarding the appropriate infrastructure required to support new developments and to act as technical infrastructure design authority on development projects.
•Perform technical Quality Assurance on all proposals for changes or enhancements to the infrastructure environment to ensure compliance with standards and consistency with the overall technical architecture and strategy
•Perform structured and documented evaluations of new technologies and products required as part of the company’s systems infrastructure to determine how these can be used to support the business objectives.
•Provide appropriate reporting to IT management and business units regarding progress on technical projects and any issues associated with the environment.
•Identify opportunities for optimising the set-up and configuration of systems and networks in order to improve the level of service provided to the business either through increased reliability, performance or functionality.

In-depth technical expertise in the following Windows & Cloud environments:
o Experience with Microsoft Azure (SQL DB – IaaS & PaaS, Fabric, DataFactory, CosmosDB, Azure Cognitive Search, BlobStorage, etc.)
o Strong DBA and security experience with MS SQL Server (2008-2022)
o Strong Powershell knowledge
o Experience with Continuous Integration Tools (VSTS/TeamCity/Octopus etc)
o Experience with Configuration Management (DSC - Azure Automation etc)
o Experience using SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
o Experience troubleshooting and resolving database problems
o Experience in performance tuning and optimisation
o Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
o Experienced Windows & Azure systems administrator
• Working experience of IT standards and codes of conduct
• Working knowledge of Change Management and Service Delivery Industry best practice (e.g.ITIL)
• Knowledge of Information Security Industry best practice (e.g. ISO27000)
• Proven experience of the application of technology to business related initiatives and problems.
• Experience of formalised project management methodologies and techniques and some project management skills.
