An exciting opportunity has arisen in the NHS Skills Development Team in Yorkshire and Humber. Are you good at project management? Do you want to be at the forefront of developing a new national scheme to attract graduates into the NHS? This is a new role to help develop a national graduate scheme for NHS Estates and Facilities Management aimed at increasing the capacity and capability of Estates Engineering teams, and support the graduates in their career development.
Main duties of the job
To provide operational support in the establishment of a new Graduate NHS Estates Engineer Training Scheme. The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of a pilot graduate training scheme open to a maximum of ten Estates and Facilities Departments across all NHS organisations. The post holder will help to increase the capacity and capability of Estates Engineering teams, and support the graduates in their career development.
The post holder will be expected to accept a wide degree of autonomy and flexibility within the remit of the post, work independently, and use initiative. Desired results will be defined for the role with the post holder deciding how they are achieved.
Co-ordination and facilitation of Skills Development initiatives and a project management approach will be required.
The post holder will contribute to the development of strategy, policies, and practices which will define the Graduate Training Scheme.
Job responsibilities
* To assist in the planning and implementation of the Graduate NHS Estates Engineer Training Scheme, open to all Estates Departments across all NHS organisations in the country.
* Plan and help to facilitate at least two launch events of the new Scheme across the country designed for senior staff working in NHS Estates.
* Plan and help to facilitate the promotion of the scheme to University careers officers and potential graduates.
* Assist potential graduates through the application process providing help and guidance where required.
* Facilitate and assist in the interview and selection process, including online interviews and assessment centres.
* Organise the provision of professional training for the graduates ensuring this is accessed through the apprenticeship levy funding from the employing organisation.
* To prepare all documentation required to promote and facilitate the scheme.
* Provide continuing support for graduates and organisations taking part in the scheme.
* Gather, maintain and analyse complex information about the development of the Scheme, regularly creating and maintaining databases and spreadsheets, producing reports and making recommendations where required.
* Provide support to the Skills Development Team in the provision of events and conferences as and when required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Project Management Qualification
* Engineering related degree
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years working in administration and/or an engineering environment
* Experience of NHS Estates
* Experience of working in a learning environment
Knowledge
* Wide background knowledge of NHS Estates and Facilities Management
* In-depth understanding of the context within which a graduate scheme would operate
Skills and Aptitudes
* Planning and organisational skills
* Persuasive and Influential Communication skills
* Ability to work independently, use own initiative and make decisions without supervision
* Ability to analyse and present complex data effectively using IT and presentation skills
* Articulate and comfortable with speaking in front of large groups
Other Requirements
* Ability to travel locally and nationally and to work flexibly in order to facilitate events which may also involve occasional overnight stays.
* Ability to lift and carry training materials, exhibition materials, laptop computer etc.
