Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services
About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing MEP consultancy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and health & heating systems for a wide range of building projects.
This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility with mostly home-based work. You will be required to attend site surveys and engage in design work at our office and client locations in Manchester as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and deliver mechanical systems for heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and health & heating systems for commercial and residential buildings.
* Produce detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications to support project delivery.
* Use AutoCAD and IES Modelling to produce accurate and detailed designs, simulations, and reports.
* Conduct site surveys and assessments as required for project development.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integration of MEP systems within building design.
* Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Prepare project reports, cost estimates, and documentation for clients and stakeholders.
* Support the senior team with technical and project management aspects as required.
Skills & Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical design engineering within the technical services or consultancy sector.
* Strong understanding of building services systems, including HVAC, health, and heating systems.
* Proficient in the use of AutoCAD for producing detailed technical drawings and layouts.
* Experience with IES Modelling for energy and environmental simulations.
* Solid knowledge of building regulations, industry standards, and sustainability practices.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a hybrid working environment.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
* Full driving license and ability to commute to Manchester for site visits and surveys.
