Depending upon the specific requirements of the service in conjunction with the appointees experience, skills and interest, the post is likely to involve predominantly one or two all day operating sessions, one or two half-day operating lists (including hot gallbladder sessions), and one or two half-day out-patient clinics and one or two half day endoscopy lists. There will be opportunity for audit and research and the fellow will be expected to participate actively in the mdt meeting, ward-based care of inpatients and the management of complex oesophago-gastric emergencies. There may also be an opportunity for some additional ad hoc on-call input. Post and peri-CCT fellows are also expected to provide one session every two weeks in out-patient clinic or emergency care hot-clinic for service provision. The fellow will be provided with supervision by consultant surgeons and at the same time will be allowed to function with a degree of independence that is appropriate for the experience and capabilities of the fellow. The fellow will work within a well-established team comprising surgeons, oncologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists, pathologists and nurse practitioners.
