Horton Housing Horton Housing is a not-for-profit Housing Association that manages a wide range of different housing, training and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire. We offer support to a variety of people, including those who are homeless or at risk, young people and refugees. We offer accommodation, skills and language support, and use a strength based approach to help the people we support achieve their goals in a manner which works for them. We are currently recruiting for a Floating Support Worker to join our HACS 4-Men service in Bradford. This role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role The Floating Support Worker plays a crucial role in the community, empowering individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to build on their strengths and achieve positive outcomes. Using a trauma-informed approach, they promote good health, encourage community engagement, and support access to essential health services. Through personalised and compassionate support, they help individuals develop resilience and move towards greater independence and stability. What we are looking for A respectful and clear approach to communicating with others Passionate about people using their talents and abilities to solve their own problems Knowledge of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness including rough sleeping. This knowledge could have been gained through lived experience or in a paid or voluntary capacity Knowledge of the challenges faced by people experiencing multiple disadvantages including drug and alcohol dependency. This knowledge could have been gained through lived experience or in a paid or voluntary capacity An understanding of the welfare benefits system Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a person-led way Demonstrates high levels of emotional intelligence and resilience Commitment to contribute towards creating and working in a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) A commitment to partnership working Proficiency in accurate record-keeping and the ability to operate IT systems used for support planning Enhanced DBS Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle We welcome applications from people that have the desire and passion to help others, although experience is not essential for this role, you must have an insight and understanding of delivering support to individuals in their home and remotely.
