About the role and team:
We are looking for an inspiring Experience Design Director to drive our organization's design strategy and shape the future of our design practice. In this role, you'll have a unique opportunity to lead a talented, diverse team, collaborate across disciplines, and directly impact commercial initiatives while enhancing design operations.
Our design team works at the intersection of design, technology and strategy, creating products and services that unlock unmet needs for consumers and capture value for clients. We work across the full product lifecycle; from visioning and discovery, through validation and launch and on to growth and optimisation.

What you'll be doing:
* Design Leadership: Nurture a diverse team and foster a culture of skills development.
* Process Improvement: Create a design playbook that supports various business functions, document current capabilities, and identify future requirements.
* Sales Support: Be involved in new business development, build proposal teams, and confidently sell design as a business necessity.
* Client Development Build lasting relationships with senior clients and foster collaboration with internal department leaders to support and grow client accounts.
* Work Oversight: Review and influence work embedded in client systems and ensure high-quality output on fixed scope projects.
* Stakeholder & People Management: Act as the single point of contact for design, plan and monitor resources, and motivate, coach, and develop team members.
What we are looking for:
* Proven experience leading design teams.
* An impressive collection of product and experience design work.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience in planning and overseeing complex design projects.
* Familiar with GDS plus demonstrable experience in the Public sector and with Government work.
* A passion for creating creative ideas that align with business goals.
* Experience in guiding cross-functional teams and promoting a collaborative environment.
* A deep understanding of human-centered design methods and techniques.
* Driven to develop strategies for enhancing team capabilities and mentoring designers across various disciplines.
