Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be based at Washington Galleries Health Centre, however will be required to work at any of our sites which includes South Tyneside (ST) Hospital, Palmer Hospital, Moorlands within ST hospital and Community Clinics in Sunderland and South Tyneside districts.
The shift patterns are usually 8am-6pm Monday to Friday.
You will be joining a team across sites of Senior Nurses/RNs and HCAs who are dedicated to providing the highest standards of patient care. Working with Clinicians and AHP from a wide range of specialties you will provide Nursing support to a diversity of patient caseloads.
There are opportunities to develop within the Out Patient setting and to attend related study days locally and nationally.
Job responsibilities
To be responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate nursing care for patients designated to their care.
To always work to the NMC Code.
To supervise non-registered staff as stipulated by the NMC under the requirements of delegation.
Provide effective leadership and assist with the management and organisation of the ward/department in the absence of the Ward Manager or Junior Sister / Charge Nurse.
To comply with the Trust's vision, values and behavioural compact.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current NMC Registration (Level 1 adult nurse) or evidence of qualification if newly qualified.
* Diploma in health-related study or equivalent appropriate qualification.
* Degree in nursing studies or healthcare related subject (UK equivalent).
* Mentorship certificate/ Practice Assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.
* Able to work without supervision.
* Competent in the use of IT such as Microsoft Office.
* Evidence of CPD.
* Knowledge of national health and social care policy.
* Knowledge of evidence-based guidelines e.g. NICE guidelines, NPSA alerts, current nursing legislation.
* Venepuncture and cannulation competency.
Experience
* Experience of working in an acute hospital or community healthcare setting.
* Recent experience of working as a registered nurse.
Physical Skills
* Ability to assist patients to move as per Trust Moving and Handling Policy.
