We are excited to offer this position at Band 6, suitable for candidates who meet the required competencies and experience. For those who may not yet fully meet the criteria, we are also open to offering this role as a developmental post at Band 5. In this case, you will undertake a structured training, academic, and professional development pathway, designed to enable progression to Band 6 within six months upon achieving the necessary competencies. The post holder will collaborate on a tailored training plan and fully engage in the development process to support their growth into the Band 6 role.
You will be involved in the day-to-day running of the dermatology department at Queens Hospital. The following would be expected:
1. To oversee and contribute to the effective management of the day treatment areas ensuring treatments are administrated in the most efficient manner.
2. To be fully aware of the uses, safety precautions, and handling of equipment used within Dermatology. Participate in the maintenance of equipment used in the clinical area and follow the correct procedures if equipment is found to be faulty or must be removed from service.
3. To be a professional role model to staff responsible for the administration of direct care.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this post is to contribute to the dermatology nursing service, by being actively involved in the provision of nurse-led services that have a positive impact on the experience of patients and carers by providing high standards of clinical practice and care. The post holder will play a senior role in the day-to-day management of the dermatology area and the provision of all outpatient services.
Person specification
Education/ Qualifications
* RN adult
* Post registration education programme related to the speciality
* An excellent understanding of current issues related to the NHS.
* Experience in leadership and management related issues.
Experience/ Knowledge
* Knowledge and experience of clinical governance and risk management within an acute trust.
Skills/ Abilities
* Relevant current clinical experience within one or more of the following, Phototherapy, Patch testing, and minor surgery.
* Management of a team
