Our Gainesville, Georgia office is looking for a Field Survey Crew Leader, where you’ll take on diverse and rewarding projects in land surveying. This role offers the chance to lead, train, and work closely with a dynamic team, utilizing state-of-the-art GPS and conventional surveying methods to deliver top-quality results across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
What You Will Do:
* Lead Field Operations: Supervise and direct assigned survey crew members in executing a wide range of survey types, including:
o Construction layouts (residential, commercial, utilities, and roadways)
o Boundary, topographic, as-built, and route surveys
o Establishment of horizontal and vertical controls
* Project Planning & Coordination: Strategize, coordinate, and manage crew activities to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with client specifications.
* Quality Control & Accuracy: Ensure that all field measurements and data collection conform to regulations, company standards, and client requirements. Verify angles, distances, and data integrity at every stage.
* Field Computations & Documentation: Perform essential field computations and document findings with precise notes and sketches. Efficiently manage data uploads and downloads using company software.
* Data Interpretation: Accurately interpret deeds, plats, and civil/architectural plans to support the effective completion of fieldwork.
* Equipment Management: Operate and maintain all surveying equipment, performing field adjustments and routine maintenance to ensure reliable performance.
* Resource Management: Prioritize tasks for yourself and your team to meet client and company objectives efficiently.
* Client & Team Communication: Engage with clients and coordinate with office personnel to deliver accurate and complete final survey products.
* Training & Development: Mentor, train, and guide crew members, offering insights to improve their skills and understanding of best practices.
* Research & Reporting: Conduct deed and plat research as needed and assist in generating reports and documentation, including time cards, expense reports, and survey inspection records.
* Performance Evaluation: Contribute to the evaluation of crew members and provide recommendations on hiring, discipline, and promotion.
What You Bring:
* Experience: Six years field experience with a minimum of 2 years as a Party Chief.
* Education: High School diploma, 2-4 year degree surveying or geomatics degree preferred or equivalent experience.
