Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Small and Medium Engines Engineering manager to ensure that all products adhere to established regulations, quality standards and approved maintenance data. Production and manufacturing experience is essential in this role.
This quality engineer role is only suitable for a quality engineer who possesses hands-on manufacturing and process experience. Certainly not looking for a 100% desk-based quality engineer here; instead, you will have an understanding of drawings, be a regular presence on the shop floor, familiar with parts and working with shop floor staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Liaise with engineering and production teams to perform investigations on non-conforming products ensuring root cause is identified and corrective actions are implemented.
2. Conduct thorough inspections of components in process and finished to verify compliance with specifications and/or approved maintenance data.
3. Participate in internal quality audits to assess compliance with regulations, company standards and approved maintenance data.
4. Involve in continuous improvement activities to drive site continuous improvement initiatives.
5. Develop & report Key Performance Indicators, undertake trend analysis and work with stakeholders to address underperforming metrics.
Essential Criteria:
1. A working understanding of aviation regulation and approvals: UK CAA / EASA Part 145, FAA, CAAC, AS9100, AS9110 & AS9120.
2. Experienced in conducting investigations with full root cause analysis and structuring corrective actions.
3. An understanding of 8D principles.
4. Previous experience in an aerospace MRO organization or OE manufacturing environment.
5. Experience of manufacturing processes and measurement techniques.
6. Experience in working with bespoke computer-based records systems and tools including SAP, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
7. Educated to degree level in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience.
8. Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to enable effective communication at all levels.
9. Disciplined, organized and proactive approach to work.
