Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Critical Care Team on a busy 8 bedded unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking, organised candidate, who has good interpersonal and communication skills to support the nursing team in the delivery of high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will work as part of the multi-professional team in maintaining a clean, organised, safe environment for patients, relatives, and staff. The main elements of the role include supporting the nutritional needs of patients, cleaning, ordering of stores, stocking up and other jobs as requested by the nurse in charge, whilst maintaining privacy and dignity for patients and ensuring confidentiality. In this role it will be necessary to liaise with other departments throughout the hospital and be involved in greeting visitors to the units. This role will also involve the moving and handling of patients and the movement of patient beds. Applicants require good literacy and numeracy skills and should have experience of working with the general public. Basic computer skills and required for maintaining required training. Experience of working in a clinical setting would be beneficial but not essential. A flexible and adaptable approach to working is required to effectively work in a dynamic, complex environment. Main duties of the job Demonstrate excellent communication skills with patients, their visitors and the multidisciplinary team. In conjunction with domestic staff, ensure a clean and tidy clinical area that meet the standards set by the Matron/Senior sister. Carry out restocking and ordering of stores and supplies needed in both the clinical area and staff areas. Ensure there is always sufficient levels needed in the clinical area for patient care. Undertake errands requires for patient care as directed by the nurse in charge. Assist in the hydration and nutrition needs for patients. Under the direct supervision of the nurse in charge, ensure ordering, preparation and delivery of diet and fluids. Liaise with different departments in the trust to contribute to the smooth running of the clinical area. Decontaminate and report and faulty equipment and ensure the relevant documentation is completed. Respect patients privacy and dignity at all times and maintain confidentiality. Comply with health and safety regulations by undertaking all duties safely and responsibly. Promote a safe working environment and participate in Moving and handling, food hygiene, waste management and fire safety practices. Maintain high standards of infection control.
