The company operates in various areas, including human health, animal health, and oncology. The role involves managing the R&D lab, workshop, and stores for a small engineering team focused on developing new and existing technology-driven consumer products. Ultimately, these products are technology focused, domestic products that monitor the wellbeing of companion animals in unobtrusive ways. This role offers the opportunity to manage and maintain a variety of modelmaking, measurement, mechanical testing, and prototype PCBA assembly equipment to support efficient product development Lab/Work shop tasks: Oversee the efficient operation of the R&D laboratory, workshop, and stores area. Implement improvements in maintenance, calibration, risk assessments, asset management, stores catalog, consumables management, operating procedures, COSHH assessments, PPE, cleanliness, training records, waste management, and EHS. Ensure safe working practices (COSHH/Risk Assessments) are up-to-date and followed in all areas by lab users. Manage the calibration, service, and inspection of laboratory and workshop equipment. Purchase materials, fixings, fastenings, consumables, tools, and capital equipment. Enhance laboratory and test capabilities to meet future project requirements. Plan resources and manage external test houses when necessary. Testing: Plan and prioritize workloads to meet project timelines. Lead contractors or technicians as needed. Collaborate with engineers on test-related tasks. Design detailed product test plans. Assemble test products/assemblies, including soldering wires and SMD to PCBs, mechanical assembly, programming, calibration, testing, and monitoring. Design and develop test rigs. Document test results in formal reports and presentations using PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
