A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Building Surveyor to join a growing team in Manchester. The role will involve working primarily in Manchester and surrounding areas, supporting a variety of projects with a particular focus on insurance-related work and commercial buildings of all types of construction.
This is a busy and varied position, ideal for a motivated individual with strong technical knowledge and excellent client service skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate ambition, professionalism, and strong interpersonal abilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect and provide expert advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of buildings and sites.
* Undertake acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys, and defect investigations.
* Prepare detailed reports, schedules of works, and technical specifications.
* Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and ensure adherence to current technical standards.
* Independently manage large-value projects across a range of professional consultancy services.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, Party Wall legislation, Building Regulations, and planning requirements.
* Support and mentor APC candidates to promote knowledge and progression.
* Adhere to company policies and procedures, including all Health & Safety requirements.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience:
* MRICS qualified (essential).
* Significant experience in consulting engineering, surveying, architectural and planning practices.
* Strong knowledge of defect diagnosis and technical report writing.
* Experience with insurance repair projects is highly desirable.
* Proven ability to lead negotiations, supervise teams, and manage projects.
* Demonstrated success in managing projects within deadlines and budgets.
* Knowledge and application of CDM 2015 regulations, Party Wall Act, and Building Regulations.
* Sound IT, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Flexible and adaptable approach to varied project work.
