JOB DESCRIPTION: NURSERY PRACTITIONER
The Nursery Nurse will be working as a Key Worker for the daily needs of children between the ages of 0 and 5 years within the Nursery setting.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To be aware of, and follow nursery policies and procedures at all times.
2. Using the EYFS, formulate and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending the Nursery, in conjunction with the senior in your room using the early years foundation stage curriculum.
3. Using the EYFS, complete learning journeys for your key group and complete reviews and assessments for parents, in conjunction with the senior.
4. Work alongside parents of special needs children to achieve full integration within the Nursery.
5. To be aware of whom the Safeguarding Children officer is within the setting and have an understanding of the procedures to follow regarding the safeguarding children in our care.
6. Foresee the needs of special needs children and give physical, emotional, intellectual guidance as appropriate.
7. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
8. Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
9. Liaise with the Local Authority and other professionals associated with the Day Nursery.
10. Attend monthly staff meetings outside working hours. You will receive your hours back.
11. Undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment. Cleaning of toilet and kitchen area each evening on a rota basis with colleagues.
12. Participate in the training programmes of a wide variety of students (i.e. Placements and volunteers), by giving guidance and support.
13. Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the project is fulfilled.
Qualifications:
* Experience with children and nursery settings
* Early childhood education background
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to provide childcare and support
* Paediatric First Aid Certification preferred but not essential
* Proficiency in English
