We have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Assistant to join our supply chain team.
You'll be reporting into the Category Manager for either Physical Goods or Contracts and Services and providing support to the Category team.
You'll have the opportunity to develop skill and experience in all aspects of the procurement process, from processing requests for data on suppliers to procuring goods and services and managing deliveries.
We're looking for somebody who's excited to broaden their experience and develop a deep understanding of procurement and supply chain processes and behaviours. This will include, but is not limited to:
1. The ability to understand and learn how to demonstrate best practice in the buying process.
2. Providing excellent service to internal stakeholders.
3. Ability to become an expert in the MTC’s procurement policies and procedures.
4. Ensure that the MTC is protected from risk by following all required due diligence activities, including but not limited to supplier risk analysis, incoterms evaluation, price negotiations, and contractual terms adherence.
5. Developing excellent relationships with MTC suppliers.
6. Operating as an ambassador for the Supply Chain team through demonstrating professional procurement practices and helping support your teammates.
As a Procurement Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
1. Become a key member of the MTC Buying Team, supporting the Category Managers procuring everything from physical goods and equipment to booking travel and managing car hire.
2. Raise purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
3. Negotiate prices where possible and ensure that the MTC receives good service and pricing from its suppliers.
4. Support the Goods-In department to ensure arrival and distribution to the relevant department.
5. Accurately maintain spreadsheets, databases, and records of information.
6. Generate reports to identify if delivery deadlines are being met.
7. Building high-quality collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
We're looking for:
1. A good team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills who is willing to work with colleagues and help whenever needed.
2. Be persuasive and diplomatic, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations and last-minute requests for items to be procured.
3. Strong attention to detail and excellent administration skills.
4. Good level of knowledge of MS Office tools such as Word and Excel.
5. High level of literacy and numeracy.
6. Problem solving with the drive to oversee solution implementation to completion.
7. Ability to think independently and innovatively and contribute ideas and improvements.
8. Demonstrate the ability to prioritise and multitask to manage workload.
9. Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
1. Previous experience using ERP systems.
2. Understanding of supply chain processes, especially procurement and logistics.
3. Degree preferred but not essential. Willingness and capability to learn and character to become a valued team member are more important.
4. R&D, aerospace or automotive experience preferred but not essential.
5. Experience within organisations funded by public funds preferred but not essential.
6. Willing to travel if needed.
