About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Aerodynamic Design Engineer to join our design group within the Aerodynamics Department. You will contribute and assist in the Group’s technical output, providing expert knowledge and supporting others, while looking to improve the quality, efficiency, accuracy and consistency of our designs to deliver a positive impact on manufacturing, part preparation and testing.
As a valued member of our Aerodynamics Department your ideas and skills will make a tangible contribution to the Team.
Key Accountabilities (Duties):
1. Designing 60% scale model components, delivering them on-schedule and to a high standard.
2. Planning and releasing parts for manufacture.
3. Providing appropriate design support for the preparation and testing of WT model components.
4. Helping develop and drive our working methodologies and capabilities.
This role is office-based, at our campus in Brackley, United Kingdom.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
1. An established track record working in Formula One aerodynamic model design, with experience of multiple car cycles, ideally across at least one major rule change.
2. Skilled in using a high-end CAD package for mechanical design. We use 3DX, but outstanding candidates with experience of other packages will be considered.
3. Experience of design for manufacture.
4. Good attention to detail and dependable judgment while working to tight deadlines autonomously.
5. A proven track record of working both independently and as part of a team.
6. Ability to remain calm under pressure working in a dynamic environment.
7. An open and honest communication style with strong collaborative skills that enable you to foster effective working relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., Production, Model Shop, Aerodynamicists).
8. A can-do attitude; you take the initiative and independently seek out opportunities and test new ideas.
9. An interest in guiding and supporting the learning and development of others.
Desirable:
1. Experience of creating Aerodynamic Surface schemes.
2. Familiarity with VBA, python or C# to deliver macros/automation.
