Robert Half are pleased to be partnering with a Global renewable energy business to hire their next Financial Controller. The new Financial Controller will lead the finance function in the UK and work closely with the MD and senior leadership team across both the UK business and wider group. The role will have 2 direct reports, be responsible for the financial compliance and controls of the UK business and oversee all internal accounting functions.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership to local accounting and controlling teams incl. target agreements, feedback and performance evaluations
2. Active member of the local management team
3. Presenting financial information to senior management to team, making recommendations on findings
4. Advising and supporting business unit's management in the development of financial plans, and in the commercial, operational, and financial delivery of strategic objectives.
5. Secure provision of regional finance services according to the defined service catalogue and manage interfaces to other departments (e.g. sales, after sales, procurement, tax).
6. Monthly and yearly closings including reporting package.
7. Budgeting, variance analysis and reports for management in GB and Financial Teams in Europe.
8. Monitor costs identifying overspends and propose solutions.
9. Working with profit centers including warehouse, transport, and line managers to review, analyse and question assumptions.
10. Necessary decision power to secure local closing (IFRS and Local GAAP). Authority for accounting postings in accordance with global guidelines and regulations
11. Challenge analysis identifying risk and opportunity across the business
12. Secure correctness and quality of financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss) and reporting packages for all local service entities
13. Secure completion of accounting and controlling closing activities in time and quality according to global closing schedule
14. Liaise with Global Treasury to provide and validate local cash flow information for the global cash forecast
15. Ensure compliance of regional accounting and controlling processes with corporate guidelines and external requirements
16. Secure local implementation of process improvements in alignment with the Head of Finance support statutory audit process (provide data and reply to auditor questions)
17. Provide cover for other members of the Financial Department during leave.
18. Oversee areas of people management in relation to the performance, attendance, and progression of the local finance team (GL accounting and service controlling)
19. Acts as Country Host to other country finance roles not in disciplinary line (such as AP).
Role Requirements:
20. Qualified Accountant with ACA, ACCA, CIMA
21. 3+ years post qualification experience
22. Excellent analytical skills are essential
23. Proficiency in MS Office, SAP experience an advantage
24. Previous experience of leading a financial department.
25. Proven commercial acumen with excellent financial reporting experience.
26. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
27. Have a positive, pro-active approach to working in a team environment
28. Good communication skills with the ability to use financial data to give context to information in a user- friendly manner.
29. Good interpersonal skills and ability work with senior business leaders Confident and happy to deliver results in a fast paced environment
