We are looking to recruit an exceptional Curriculum Leader of Mathematics to start September 2025 or earlier. This role will provide an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious practitioner wishing to further develop their career, to lead others, build upon an existing track record of success within a Maths Department and to make a real impact on further driving up attainment and progress in Maths education. This role will be ideal for someone with previous leadership experience, although this is not essential.
At The Misbourne, you will become part of a vibrant learning community that will offer you fantastic opportunities for CPD and career progression. We provide extensive support, mentoring and coaching with career development opportunities. You will be joining a supportive, dedicated and collaborative group of middle leaders, who meet regularly to share pedagogy and collaborate on school development.
The dedicated Maths building has brand new Promethean boards in every classroom, with our students across KS3 having access to technology to aid learning through their one-to-one Chromebook devices.
We place a strong emphasis on three core values: learning, kindness, and excellence. We are seeking a candidate who shares these values and is eager to not only improve their own teaching practice but also contribute to our department's ongoing growth and success. We firmly believe that effective teaching goes hand in hand with building strong relationships with students, and our educators play a pivotal role in instilling a passion for mathematics in our students. If you are dedicated to promoting learning, kindness, and excellence in the classroom, and are excited about the prospect of inspiring students to embrace the world of mathematics, we encourage you to apply!
About you
Who are we looking for?
A calm individual who can foster positive relationships rapidly
A supportive leader who can coach, mentor and direct colleagues
An excellent Teacher of Mathematics, who has a love for the subject and is excited to further develop their skills
A student-centred practitioner who is aligned to our academy’s values
A pedagogist aligned with our teaching philosophy, built around Lemov’s ‘Teach Like a Champion’ and teaching ‘powerful knowledge’
You will be leading a successful Maths department, all maths specialists, supported by your Assistant Curriculum Leader; this is a department with good GCSE results, and Maths is a popular A-level subject at The Misbourne. Each year we have students achieving top grades at both GCSE and A-level. We have a fully planned and resourced centralised curriculum, and we have development time across the year so that the team can collaboratively plan and talk about teaching; continuing to develop professionally and reducing workload. At Key Stage 3, students follow a mastery curriculum to ensure the embedding of core skills; GCSE and A-level students follow the Edexcel specification.
