We are currently looking for an innovative and inspiring Theatre Teacher to join our thriving Performing and Visual Arts department. The Theatre department is superbly resourced and enjoys professional performance spaces. Theatre is a very popular subject here too and is taught from Grades 5-12. Numerous productions take place throughout the year, ranging from large scale musicals and plays to smaller student-led productions.
To succeed, you will need a good level degree in a directly related subject and IB Theatre experience/interest is desirable. You will also need theatre directing experience and an excellent academic and dramatic track record, ideally gained in a secondary education setting.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Deliver high-quality lessons to mixed-ability classes across different grade levels in Middle School and Upper School;
2. Differentiate tasks by routinely collaborating with the EAL coordinator and Learning Resource Specialist to suit the needs of individual students;
3. Collaborate with other faculty members to develop units of work and co-teach classes as needed;
4. Plan, prepare, set class and home learning assignments and tests to understand and record student progress;
5. Perform pastoral roles such as a grade level advisor and deliver PSHEE lessons according to the schedule;
6. Attend and contribute to department meetings, student meetings, faculty meetings, and parent/teacher conferences;
7. Contribute to curriculum development, and participate in Professional Development and Safeguarding meetings;
8. Maintain accurate assessment records and communicate student progress according to the procedures outlined in the Academic Handbook for each section;
9. Supervise 1 study hall or lunch-time supervision across campus per week;
10. Supervise an after school extra-curricular activity two days per week;
11. Direct and produce one main stage production across Middle and/or Upper School.

2. Able to manage students firmly, fairly, and effectively.
3. Ability to work as a team member and to form good working relationships with colleagues and work collaboratively.
4. Organized and able to meet deadlines with good attention to detail.
5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
6. Ability to develop genuine rapport with students.
7. Willingness to learn new skills/techniques and apply them to your teaching practice.
8. Excellent classroom practice and planning skills.
9. Willingness to work independently and accept responsibility within the Performing and Visual Arts Department.
Qualifications:
1. A university degree in Theatre or an Acting-based subject.
