Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant Community Paediatrician to the Kaleidoscope Children’s Centre, Lewisham. The post holder will have responsibility to deliver a community paediatric service. This is a new post with a special interest in the communication clinic pathway with assessments of children with social communication disorders. This role will have a lead within the communication clinic for diagnosis for the under 5-year-old group. There is no overnight commitment. The post holder will contribute to the daytime child protection rota, but there is no expectation to contribute to Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) medicals. The post holder will join a team of 9 Consultant Community Paediatricians, 2 community SAS doctors and one Specialty Doctor. Senior Allied Health professionals, clinical nurse specialists also contribute to assessments and care for young people. The department is developing the workforce including using sessional GPs for some aspects of community paediatric work as well as developing the clinical nurse specialist role to allow the consultants to focus on specialist community paediatric roles. Clinical Responsibilities: Work in all aspects of Community Paediatrics, suited to experience and service priorities. Assess and manage children with neurodevelopmental concerns and safeguarding issues. Participate in the consultant-led Child Protection rota. Undertake health assessments for Looked After Children and provide written reports. Support and advise colleagues in clinical assessment and care of children and young people. Provide supervision to trainees, specialist doctors, clinical nurse specialists, and AHPs. General Responsibilities: Participate in clinical supervision and continuing professional development of medical staff. Collaborate with Community Paediatric services and Children’s Community Services Directorate. Develop care pathways across acute and community services. Liaise with other agencies on clinical and operational matters. Research: Participate in departmental research planning and implementation. Encourage interest in relevant areas of research. Performance Management: Ensure high performance in clinical efficiency and quality of outcomes. Complete and correct reports in a timely manner. Medical Education & Teaching: Participate in clinical and educational supervision of postgraduate trainees. Plan and deliver training for GP trainees and post-graduate teaching. Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance: Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting, and analysis. Ensure clinical guidelines and protocols are adhered to by medical staff. Continuing Professional Development: Attend relevant local, regional, and national CPD activities. Meet the organisation's requirements for training attendance. Policy, Planning and Management: Support the Trust to deliver quality patient care. Contribute to the development of clinical and organisational protocols and guidelines.
