* Ensure that the patient has a high-quality experience during their journey as set out in the medical directorate core values of nursing care document.
* Coordinate the shift on a day-to-day basis within the unit including deployment and supervision of staff (including Bank and Agency staff) to ensure safe skill mix of staff.
* Develop, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care.
* Provide support and supervision for junior staff and facilitate positive staff welfare.
* Contribute professional leadership and advice to the ward nursing team.
* Act as a positive role model to junior staff.
* Actively promote and ensure the patient safety first campaign is understood and applied in the unit.
* Deal sensitively with the emotional needs of the patient, relative and staff.
