Your role and responsibilities:
In this role, you will support regional/global sourcing initiatives either under the leadership of a regional/global Category Manager or independently if under a defined threshold. Each day, you will purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. You will also ensure purchase activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will be mainly accountable for:
1. For global category sourcing parts, provide professional advice to the global category manager for strategy making/optimizing, implement effective sourcing strategies in line with global sourcing strategy ensuring that the supply base/suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements.
2. For local category sourcing parts, make sourcing strategy independently, evaluate and develop the supply base, and introduce new suppliers as appropriate to meet business needs.
3. Manage planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets, and minimize risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with Company guidelines.
4. Participate in the contract negotiation of global suppliers together with the GCM, and lead the contract negotiations of local suppliers.
5. Adapt corporate contractual framework to local business needs and provide ongoing oversight and contract management with suppliers.
6. Ensure identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers focusing on quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability in accordance with Company policies.
7. Contribute to and participate in setting and implementing budget and targets within the framework, ensuring responsible category sourcing performance targets are achieved.
8. Define and constantly improve the value chain with focus to shorten lead time and optimize logistic processes, considering total cost.
9. Cooperate closely with the purchasing team to support capacity planning and scalability/flexibility planning.
10. Define and reach targets for Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Innovation in the responsible category.
11. Work with Quality and SQE to improve supplier performance (OTD, PPM, lead time etc.) and manage the supplier portfolio to develop the right supply base.
12. Identify, track, and implement cost-saving actions and push VA/VE projects to meet cost targets for the category.
Qualifications for the role:
* Bachelor or Master in engineering or commercial or similar degree.
* Minimum 6 years sourcing related working experience.
* Good knowledge in the Stator/Copper/insulation/accessory category preferred.
* Experience in railway or off-road vehicle industry preferred.
* Excellent knowledge in sourcing methods; supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, analytical skills, and legal/contractual knowledge.
* Excellent communication, cooperation, and influencing skills when working with different senior level roles internally and externally with different suppliers.
* Continuous improvement mindset with a business-driven and fact-based approach towards suppliers focusing on building long-term relationships.
* Fluent in English in both speaking and writing.
* Ability to handle complexity and work under pressure, with occasional travel at short notice.
* Microsoft Office/SAP experience is a plus.
