We are currently looking for a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to join at our Alfreton site. This is a practical, shop-floor-based leadership position where youll directly supervise a team of Maintenance Fitters, ensuring that all maintenance tasks are executed to a high standard. Youll play a critical role in developing and embedding a preventative maintenance culture, reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Key Responsibilities Lead and support a team of Maintenance Fitters on all aspects of daily maintenance activities. Drive and champion a preventative maintenance culture, ensuring proactive servicing and inspection of equipment to prevent failures. Be a hands-on presence, supporting fault finding, repairs, and installation of plant machinery as needed. Plan and oversee weekly maintenance schedules, coordinating tasks with production and ensuring timely completion. Support the planning and execution of site shutdowns, including insurance inspections and statutory compliance tasks. Work closely with the Maintenance Coordinator to ensure materials, tools, and manpower are aligned with work plans. Supervise and manage contractors for specialist tasks, ensuring safe working practices and compliance. Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to deliver reliability and continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor and report maintenance KPIs, ensuring performance targets are met. Take an active role in promoting Health, Safety, and Environmental (SHE) standards across all maintenance activities. Support budget management through effective use of resources and stores inventory. Maintain strong relationships across production, technical, and engineering teams. Proven experience in a maintenance leadership role, ideally within manufacturing or industrial operations. A strong background in mechanical or electrical maintenance with hands-on technical expertise. Experience directly supervising a team and managing workloads, performance, and development. Passion for proactive maintenance, with a strong belief in the benefits of preventative approaches. Relevant engineering qualifications and working knowledge of maintenance systems and compliance standards. Understanding of HSE practices, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes (IOSH Managing Safely preferred).
