We are actively working towards securing accreditation through the Joint Advisory Group (JAG) on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as a high-quality gastrointestinal endoscopy service. We are looking for an experienced Endoscopy Nurse or an existing Band 5 who wishes to have a career change and wants to work in a more specialist area of nursing and have further career development, with a passion for learning Endoscopy.

You will be working as part of a friendly, welcoming, and expert Multidisciplinary Endoscopy Team who are enthusiastic and encouraging in a happy working environment. Mentoring, training, and guidance will be provided to the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide and receive complex information, communicating sensitively and confidentially regarding patients/clients.

5. Maintain appropriate levels of training for clinical skills as needed within the scope of practice.
6. Ensure safe custody of drugs, following statutory and trust requirements for checking, witnessing, and administration.
7. In the absence of Sister/Charge Nurse, effectively respond to complaints/concerns and escalate as required.
8. Manage and report clinical incidents/near misses in a timely manner.
9. Participate in multidisciplinary team decision-making, acting as the patient's advocate.
10. Work within organisational policy, standard operating procedures, and guidelines.

KEY DUTIES CONTINUED:
1. Undertake risk assessments and implement risk-reducing measures.
2. Ensure privacy, dignity, and safety of individuals is maintained at all times.
3. Participate in the effective and efficient use of departmental resources and equipment.
4. Handle patient valuables, ensuring safe storage and transportation.
5. Sign off agency timesheets to verify and record hours worked.
6. Liaise with the Roster Coordinator to ensure a balanced personal roster.
Teaching & Training Responsibilities:
1. Deputise in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse.
2. Manage own time and that of others through delegation to ensure high-quality service delivery.
3. Act as assessor/supervisor for junior staff and students.
4. Participate in setting yearly personal and professional objectives.
5. Support the department’s appraisal process for junior staff by providing feedback.
6. Be flexible in delivering safe staffing across the Trust and participate in redeployment requirements.
Research & Audit:
1. Contribute to the collection of data for research and audit purposes.
2. Identify audit topics relevant to the ward/department.
3. Critically evaluate research before applying it to clinical practice to enhance patient care.
4. Identify areas for self-development and training requirements.
5. Maintain a professional portfolio and reflective diary for developmental purposes and revalidation.
6. Support team members in promoting self-help and wellbeing.
7. Develop a culture of learning and innovation, fostering high-quality learning environments.
8. Adopt a reflective approach to practice for continual improvement.
