An exciting opportunity has become available for an Assistant Psychologist to join our Neurodevelopmental Lifespan Service (NDLS) in Canterbury which supports several Trusts and CCGs across the South of England with the assessment and management of adults and children with ASD and ADHD.
The successful candidate will be required to support a team which includes Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Pediatricians, specialist therapists and administrative staff, in the delivery and expansion of high quality psychological and neurodevelopmental services.
Main duties of the job
Candidates will be motivated and enthusiastic individuals and have the necessary skills to support the team in a variety of ways as well as working autonomously and flexibly. The role will mainly be to support the adult side of the service, including admin support, producing reports, liaising with clients and their families, carrying out pre-assessment interviews and supporting senior colleagues in clinic.
Clinical supervision will be provided by experienced clinical psychologists.
Job Responsibilities
1. Provide effective, efficient and high-quality clinical support to the Directors and other clinicians.
2. Provide clinical services under supervision to support and enhance care of clients and patients including undertaking assessments and providing psychological interventions.
3. Provide competent clinical administrative support.
4. Contribute to the smooth running of the business of Psicon.
5. Conduct psychological assessments including semi-structured interviews with patients and applying self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observations.
6. Undertake clinical psychometric and psychological testing as directed and under the supervision of Chartered Psychologist.
7. Assist in formulation and management of treatment programmes.
8. Attend treatment sessions as observer and under the supervision of Chartered Psychologist.
9. Carry out psychological treatment as directed and under the supervision of Chartered Psychologist.
10. Contribute to rehabilitation programmes.
11. Attend and contribute to clinicians briefings including case reviews.
12. Liaise with the systems involved with the children and young people under the care of the service (such as parents, carers, schools, social workers, etc) to ensure a holistic approach to care.
13. Contribute to specialist neurodevelopmental assessments (e.g. carrying out school observations, interviews with school staff, administration of assessment tools such as the ADOS-2 or WISC-V).
14. Plan, organise and co-teach psycho-educational courses and groups with appropriately qualified professional staff.
15. Conduct literature searches, collate audit and outcome evidence, analyse relevant data and produce reports to inform and enhance care delivered by the service.
16. Have a good understanding of risk assessments and safeguarding issues and seek the support of a qualified clinician if risk issues are identified.
17. Attend and contribute to clinical meetings within the service.
18. Support the delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions for clients.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates who meet the above criteria and have a degree (minimum 2:1 classification) in Psychology (accredited by the BPS) are invited to apply. Those with experience with clients with autism and/or ADHD will have an advantage. Please note the successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by the Company.

* Experience of working with clinical populations as a psychology assistant/psychology placement student/volunteer in psychological services.
* Experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist.
* Experience of working with neurodiverse populations.
* Experience or clinical audit, research or service evaluation and development.
Qualifications
* Degree in Psychology (1st/2:1).
* Eligible for Graduate membership of the BPS (British Psychological Society).
