BPAS are an independent healthcare charity which, formore than 55 years, has been advocating and caring for women and couples whodecide to end a pregnancy. We are theleading specialist of abortion advice and treatment in the UK, supporting over100,000 women a year in over 50 healthcare clinics nationwide.
Over the last 12 months we have gone throughsignificant organisational change and are putting in place a new leadershipstructure, supported by a Senior Operational Team. This role is a key member of the ExecutiveLeadership Team.
BPAS vision is for a society in which women aretrusted to make their own reproductive choices with access to the informationand services needed to exercise those choices.The Chief Clinical Officer is an integral part of the Leadership Team,sharing the collective responsibility, as a member of the C-Suite, for the key issues facing BPAS.
Thisrole has responsibility for clinical services encompassing nursing, midwifery,medical and surgical services across BPAS. You will be a values driven leader who can inspire staff and trustees,as well as wider stakeholders, fostering a culture driven by our collectivepurpose.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Chief Clinical Officer iscentral to BPAS commitment to delivering safe, effective, and compassionatecare. As a key member of our C-suite, your responsibilities will includeshaping and driving our clinical strategy to ensure it aligns with our visionand mission.
You will oversee the delivery of nursing, midwifery, medical, andsurgical services, ensuring they meet the highest standards of patient safetyand quality. Additionally, you will be instrumental in guiding our organisationthrough one of its most transformative periods, working closely with trustees,C-suite and Senior Operating Team members to improve effectiveness, fostercontinuous learning, and enhance our impact.
We are seeking a Chief Clinical Officer with astrong clinical background and proven experience at a senior leadership level.You will bring expertise in clinical governance, patient safety, andoperational performance, coupled with a deep understanding of healthcareplanning and regulation. Your ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, navigatecomplex challenges, and inspire others is critical. A formal management orleadership qualification, along with experience in a board-level role, isessential.

8. Full GMC/NMC registration and evidence of revalidation.
9. Formal management/leadership training or significant experience gained within a healthcare setting at a senior level.
