Classroom Assistant to start February 2025 (or as soon as possible afterwards) Key Stage One or Key Stage Two (Initially a fixed term position until July 2025 with the possibility of becoming a permanent position) The Academy Committee of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Academy wish to appoint a Classroom Assistant for 27.5hrs per week to work within either Key Stage One or Key Stage Two (Actual salary £15,377 - £15,977). St. John’s is part of the Newman Catholic Collegiate. The Directors are seeking to appoint a hardworking and committed Classroom Assistant to join our enthusiastic team who will: Be committed to actively upholding the catholic ethos of our school Have experience of volunteering with or working with children in a primary school setting Under the direction and supervision of the teacher, assist in the delivery of activities enhancing children’s social and educational development Be able to support a child/ group of children making adjustments to the curriculum Assist in setting up and clearing away of displays and activities, including ensuring the materials and equipment are safe and clean Attend to children’s personal needs including assisting children at meal time Have good communication skills at all levels Exchange information with parents/carers Assist other staff with the assessment procedures to ensure children’s progress is satisfactory Update children’s records Have high expectations of pupil achievement, attainment and behaviour Be flexible and adaptable Be a strong team player Relevant qualifications/experience or training (GCSE Maths and English) Any other duties appropriate to the post.
