They now have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for helping to develop new freight forwarding business by successfully sourcing and creating a pipeline of sales in the UK. Selling and promoting freight and logistics services UK-wide with an office in Northampton that you will spend a day a week in.

In recent years, they have been gaining a strong foothold in Europe as a leading provider of logistics services to customers. The UK part of the organisation is now ready to leverage their position in the Global and European Logistics market to create a UK logistics business, alongside their key client base.
We are looking for a sales professional to join the team at this exciting time and to be instrumental in creating sales opportunities for the freight and logistics business in the UK. You will need an excellent understanding of the freight and logistics market, coupled with an entrepreneurial, hunter approach to securing new activity. A high degree of travel within the UK will be required for this role.
Main Responsibilities
1. Create / generate leads from a standing start
2. Prospect identification and lead qualification
3. Develop and grow the new prospects / target sales funnel
4. Bring an existing network to the organisation, develop and maintain this network, and utilise the network of peers to support activity
5. Manage the opportunity and lead the process of compiling value propositions
6. Research and identify new business opportunities including new markets and trends
7. Foster and develop relationships with prospects, customers, and partners to generate repeat business as well as finding new opportunities
8. Build market position by locating, developing, defining, and closing business relationships
9. Examine risks and potentials for business opportunities
10. Coordinate in tender management, proposal, and contract agreements concept
Applying candidates will have:
1. Several years of experience in selling Freight Forwarding, logistics, or similar service / Contract Logistics experience is beneficial
2. Strong communication and presentation skills
3. Conceptual and analytical thinking
4. Strong, well-maintained network within the UK Warehouse and Transport industry
5. Expertise/affinity with supply chain management, procurement, innovation, and development topics
6. Entrepreneurial approach and an ability to show own initiative to develop prospects
7. Resilient to setbacks and disappointment when generating leads
8. Hands-on mentality, eager to take on challenges and drive results
9. Strategic thinking, seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives to develop and improve the business and reach new audiences
10. Successful negotiation & closing skills, with a commercial mindset
Package & Benefits
1. Salary £50,000 - £75,000 dependent upon experience
2. Car Allowance
3. Able to commute to Northampton branch a day a week
4. Bonus - paid twice a year up to 40% of salary, based on hitting targets, performance, etc.
