Lead Quality Engineer
The Quality Assurance Lead is integral in overseeing product quality and resolving plant quality issues, both internally and externally. This role requires proactive interaction with both customer and supplier representatives and various internal departments to ensure effective resolution of concerns. The incumbent is also authorised to halt production during investigations if deemed necessary to maintain quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as the primary liaison between the company and both customers and suppliers to guarantee a clear understanding of requirements, issues, and standards.
* Coordinate customer-specific requirements with internal departments including sales, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, purchasing, and accounting.
* Uphold and monitor adherence to quality standards according to work instructions, sample inspections, and document controls within the Quality Management System (QMS)
* Support, coach, and mentor team members to enhance their skills and understanding of job-related duties.
* Ensure customer complaints are addressed promptly and effectively.
* Actively participate in and promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and productivity, fostering team-based problem-solving.
* Engage in additional activities as needed by the business, provided they align with personal skills and training.
* Manage and participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Control Plans, FMEA, Calibration, Quality Management Systems, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
* Conduct and participate in auditing activities according to the company's Audit Timing Plan.
* Use of root cause analysis and corrective actions, including the use of lean tools such as 8D.
* Carry out internal audits to ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO14001 & ISO9001
Qualifications:
* NVQ Level 4/5 in an Automotive context (Desirable)
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality engineering role within the automotive industry.
* Background in plastic injection molding. (Desirable)
* Expert knowledge of IATF 16949 standards and their application.
* Proficient in quality system tools like Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean, 5S, and FMEA.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
