Hanson recruitment is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teacher to join one of our clients in Bristol. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a small class of five pupils, aged 11 to 13 years old, with special educational needs including autism and one with CVI (Cognitive Visual Impairment).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teach a small class of five pupils with special educational needs, ensuring tailored lessons that cater to each child's abilities.
2. Collaborate with a team of six teaching assistants, including a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), to support the planning and administration of lessons.
3. Provide one-to-one support for pupils and guide teaching assistants in differentiation and classroom support.
4. Build strong relationships with pupils and understand their individual educational and emotional needs.
5. Collaborate with the wider teaching and support team to deliver excellent education and support for the classroom.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Experience in special education teaching or out-of-school learning.
2. QTS/QTLS or Equivalent Teaching Qualification.
3. Proficiency in behaviour management and trauma-informed teaching.
4. Strong communication skills and ability to set appropriate boundaries in a therapeutic educational environment.
Desired Skills and Attributes:
1. Ability to focus on social emotional learning and deliver core subjects tailored to each child's abilities.
2. Experience in utilising existing planning resources while injecting creativity and personal teaching preferences.
3. Ability to utilise off-site resources such as educational trips, climbing, swimming, and museums.
4. Experience working alongside land and animal craft and specialist subject tutors.
