Alexander Steele has partnered with a leading food manufacturer to find a passionate and driven Technical Manager. This key role will ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality management, and continuous improvement across the site. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Contribution
* Collaborate with senior site management to formulate and implement business strategies that align with customer requirements and business development goals.
Food Safety & Quality Management
* Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Food Safety & Quality Management plan, ensuring strict adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
* Take full ownership of the site’s Food Safety & Quality Management System (FSQMS), driving improvements and ensuring the highest food safety culture across the site.
Continuous Improvement
* Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives within the FSQMS, striving for operational excellence and compliance with industry standards.
Team Leadership
* Lead, guide, and support the Quality Assurance (QA) team and broader site teams.
* Identify training and development needs, ensuring team members are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed.
* Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Audits and Compliance
* Lead and manage certification standards, Food Safety Systems (FSS), and customer audits to ensure compliance with regulatory, certification, and customer-specific requirements.
Customer Relations
* Maintain and manage strong relationships with customers, ensuring timely resolution of complaints and implementing corrective actions to meet agreed-upon targets.
Process Compliance
* Ensure process compliance, monitoring systems for validating and verifying adherence to quality standards and import requirements.
Technical Reporting
* Prepare and deliver technical reports to both internal stakeholders and customers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Policy Review and Management
* Regularly review and update technical policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with legislative updates and industry best practices.
External Relationships
* Build and manage relationships with customers, laboratories, regulatory authorities (including FSS and APHA), and other key external partners.
Personnel Management
* Assist managers with employee relations matters, monitor sickness/absenteeism levels, and promote a culture of animal welfare.
HACCP and TACCP Leadership
* Lead as the HACCP Team Leader and TACCP Team Leader, ensuring site compliance with both systems and overseeing all related activities.
Skills & Experience:
* Extensive experience in food safety and quality management, ideally in a similar manufacturing or production environment.
* Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop, lead, and motivate teams.
* Strong knowledge of food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and certification standards.
* Experience in customer relations and managing technical reports.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
* HACCP and TACCP certification or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
