An exciting new role has arisen in our Research and Development department. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Mechanical and Acoustics Engineering team.
What’s involved?
Reporting to the Mechanical and Acoustics Design team leader, this role will have a broad working remit. While the primary focus will be supporting development of our iconic LP12 turntable products, there will also be a requirement to provide technical expertise and engineering solutions for all aspects of mechanics from specifying materials to developing novel approaches for vibration control.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will need to develop a deep understanding of the mechanics of the LP12 to ensure that we continue to extract more information from the groove of the record, minimizing external interference when transcribing the forces captured by the stylus.
Scientific method is essential for this role, as is the ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to understanding through observation, experimentation, and analysis. You will be expected to form your own hypotheses, and through rigorous experimentation and analysis draw appropriate conclusions.
All of our products are designed and manufactured in-house, so as a Mechanical Design Engineer you will see products through their entire development cycle, from concept evaluation, through prototype and manufacture, to full market release.
As part of a multidisciplinary R&D department, this opportunity gives access to expertise in acoustics, electronics, manufacturing, and software engineering. Cross-pollination of ideas through discussion is welcomed and expected. You will also work closely with teams across the company, including our production, service, and procurement teams, events, sales, and marketing.
This is a truly rare opportunity to join a dynamic and motivated research and development department designing and delivering the world’s best music reproduction systems.
