Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Sister to join our Paediatric Assessment Unit team. The successful candidate will be a registered Paediatric nurse who will demonstrate excellent leadership skills. The post holder will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate staff whilst working to deadlines. PAU is housed in a state-of-the-art purpose-built unit, the unit is leading the way in progressing virtual wards and a new team structure is creating a new dynamic way of team working. The paediatric department comprises of a 21-inpatient ward, a 12 bedded PAU, surgical work, a virtual ward, children community nursing team and outpatient's department. Main duties of the job To function as an expert clinical practitioner within the general paediatric unit. Delivering direct patient care whilst, managing, leading, co-ordinating and overseeing nursing practice. The post holder carries 24 hour continuing responsibility for the co-ordination and monitoring of all clinical activities within PAU. To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of all resources required to deliver optimum quality care to children, young people and their families who attend PAU. The post holder will deputise for the Paediatric matron, driving forward evidence based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within the paediatric department. The post holder will actively contribute to practice development within the paediatric department, ensuring that staff have the opportunities to develop in their roles, are assessed and competent to deliver the care required to the patients within the paediatric department.
