Duties/Responsibilities:
* Assist the Registered Manager in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people, appropriate to their age, understanding and identified needs.
* Provide support with all aspects of their daily lives and encourage them to engage in decision making relating to their care.
* To encourage and support all young people to take responsibility for their self-care and personal hygiene appropriate to their age.
* To ensure that good health and welfare is promoted and that the needs of young people are identified, and services provided to meet these.
* To act as a positive role model and actively prepare and support young people when leaving care to enable them to make a successful transition into adulthood.
* Supporting the Registered Manager to ensure that the team are actively taking responsibility for delivery of high-quality care.
* Be able to shift lead and to deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager including leading the support team, undertaking financial management and budgeting of the home in accordance with the organisations policies and procedures.
* To maintain a regular system of recording in connection with each young person, to be involved in the development and implementation of individual care plans and to provide reports as and when required.
* Be able to work shift patterns including sleep-ins
To be considered for this opportunity, you should have:
* Level 3 Diploma for Children & Young People workforce (or equivalent)
* Experience working with Children and Young People in a residential care setting, most recently in a supervisory role.
* Sound knowledge of Safeguarding and how to put this into practice within a residential childcare setting. An understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements and how these are practiced within a residential setting.
* Ability to adapt to changing situations and work effectively under pressure.
* A calm and exploratory approach to working with children and young people who have experience significant trauma.
* A Full UK Driving Licence
* Be confident with using IT and writing clear and detailed reports.
