Here at Leighton Hospital in Crewe we are working on developing a new hospital and healthcare neighbourhood, this is a multi million pound development that will revolutionise healthcare for the community. We are seeking a Capital Finance Analyst to join our friendly programme finance team to provide a full range of capital accounting services to the Trust's overall capital plan or specific capital schemes. Primarily focused on the reporting of capital schemes but the post holder will provide supervision to the junior member of staff within the Team as required by the Deputy Finance Business Partner or Chief Capital Accountant.
Main duties of the job
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. To ensure financial information is processed in accordance with established procedure, in order to provide monthly report, through completion of own work and through liaison with other colleagues within the team.
2. The post holder will be required to communicate with colleagues, managers and staff across the Trust and externally with other organisations.
3. To investigate complex capital financial inquiries, providing assistance and advice as required.
4. Responsible for producing relevant, timely and accurate reports to project managers, including identifying trends, the reasons for variances from forecast, and options to improve the position.
5. Responsible for monitoring and reporting overall finance position of dedicated capital schemes, looking at both in year and overall project financial position.
6. Assisting with the assessment of the full financial implications of proposals, appropriateness of capital funding and their affordability, within the overall resources identified.
7. To supervise the day-to-day activities of the Assistant Management Accountant as required by the Deputy Finance Business Partner and Chief Capital Accountant and to deputise as and when appropriate.
8. To support the development of the Capital Finance Team and its operational work streams and undertaking ad hoc tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE/ PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
* AAT L4 Qualified with specialist NHS knowledge and skills within the finance field.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Specialist knowledge and experience in Public Sector finance, acquired through working in the NHS or similarly complex and demanding environment.
* Commitment to study the CCAB L7 qualification.
SKILLS
* Specialist Knowledge of financial and accounting procedure and legislation.
* Considerable knowledge and experience of computerised financial systems, coding structure and inter-relationships of other financial systems.
* Able to act under own initiative within defined parameters of NHS and Trust finance policies.
* Able to contribute to planning the team's workload, making adjustments to meet department requirements and internal and external targets.
* Able to discuss complex and sensitive information with budget holders and financial colleagues, gain their respect and influence their decisions.
