An exciting internal secondment opportunity has arisen for experienced midwives to join our established Preceptorship team for 6 months at Liverpool Women's Hospital.
The role will involve the clinical and managerial facilitation of a period of structured transition for the newly registered and internationally educated midwives providing clinical and pastoral guidance and support.
The Preceptorship midwives will be highly visible in the clinical areas working alongside preceptees and supporting the partnership between them and clinical leads.
Please note this is a secondment and you will need the support of your Line Manager to be released for the secondment period.
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will be responsible for leading training and development strategies by the delivery of some aspects of clinical education required within the Preceptorship period.
2. They will be an excellent role model and ensure that they demonstrate and embed the trust values and behaviours throughout the Preceptorship period for preceptees, as they continue on their career and journey of life-long learning.
Job responsibilities
1. To support and develop the Preceptorship programme ensuring the implementation of the framework.
2. To be visible in the clinical environments liaising with Preceptees on the programme and supporting their partnership between them and clinical supervisors.
3. To audit the effectiveness of the teaching, learning and support activities that have been offered to all newly qualified multi-professional registrants in order that they can be amended accordingly.
4. Contribute in developing all learning environments within organisations by proactively promoting a learning culture and leading by example, thus contributing to quality standards of care and improvement.
5. Lead on the development of Preceptorship packages and assessment tools.
6. Coordinate the delivery of Preceptorship training days.
7. Provide specialist advice and support to new registrants within scope of own knowledge and experience in all areas of Midwifery practice.
8. Lead on the work for Maternity, looking at retention of staff midwives in the NHS.

Qualifications
Essential
* 1st level degree
* Professional qualification with up to date professional registration

* Specialist knowledge of education in practice at Masters level equivalent
Experience

* Broad range of post qualifying clinical demonstrable experience for a minimum of 5 years
* Extensive demonstrable experience of teaching, supervising and assessing in the practice setting
* Demonstrable experience of having worked across professional and organisational boundaries
* Demonstrable experience of facilitating change
* Demonstrable experience of staff management/staff supervision
* Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing new systems and procedures
