Temporary Crime & Intelligence Analyst

Pay Rate: £16.46 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Thursday 8am to 4.00pm & Friday 8am to 3.30pm
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 12 months

NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 5 years continuous UK address history. Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.
The purpose of the role is to undertake crime and intelligence research and analytical work to assist the Force target resources in support of policing priorities and to assist the investigations through the production of intelligence and evidential standard products.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct analysis at a strategic, tactical, operational and investigative level, identifying and using appropriate analytical tools and techniques to interpret gaps, identify series, patterns and trends, assess threat, risk and harm and make recommendations in support of decision-making, prioritisation, resource allocation and strategy.
Deliver intelligence products in accordance with the analytical techniques outlined in NIM, the relevant tasking and co-ordinating processes and current authorised professional practice (APP).
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external customers including partner agencies. This will include providing advice, guidance and recommendations with regards to analytical products to ensure the customer is empowered to request the product best suited to their requirements, and, considering, advising, negotiating and agreeing terms of reference for intelligence and evidential analysis products with customers.
Undertake research methodologies to produce, inform and deliver analytical products, including collecting, collating and evaluating information in support of the creation of intelligence collection plans and the delivery of analytical products.
Research, extract and collate information from all appropriate sources – utilising available systems and products, including relevant databases and analytical software tools to form comprehensive inferences and draw conclusions.
Create and test hypotheses and inferences to make evidence-based conclusions and make recommendations in support of decision making at a strategic, tactical, operational and investigative level.
Communicate complex analytical information and recommendations through the production of written reports, verbal briefings and presentations to stakeholders ensuring a concise and secure understanding of analytical findings and products. This includes the preparation, delivery and presentation of evidential standard analytical products to ensure work, methodologies and practices withstand the scrutiny of court proceedings, and, attend court to present products as a Professional witness.
Adhere to all legal frameworks, key working principles, policies and guidance relevant to the role.
Provide quality assurance and peer support/review in relation to analytical products and evidence – including the mentorship and development of other intelligence analysts.
Qualifications:
Educated to degree standard or equivalent or proven substantial experience in a similar role.
ECDL or equivalent qualification.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Demonstrates experience of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Demonstrates experience in the preparation, presentation and explanation of information.
Demonstrates experience in the application of analytical techniques.
Experience in the research of information from a variety of sources.
Experience in the use of Mapping systems.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
Full UK driving licence required for this role.
